Note: This is the third of three (as of the date of this review) novels in the Tales of Inthya series. If you want to start at the beginning, check out The Queen of Ieflaria.Given my intense love for the second book in this series, I would be lying if I said I wasn't a teeny tiny bit worried The Queen of Rhodia wouldn't live up to its predecessor... but TQOR is a true page-turner. The previous two books present conflicts romantic, political and fantastical, but TQOR introduces new obstacles our heroines must overcome that are also deeply personal. Pacing and and the interleaving of lore into the narrative continues in excellence. Characters are explored and given more depth, and the climax is a jaw-dropper satisfying in a way that few are in an age of neverending sequels and reboots. This book gets my highest recommendation. Go read it! The first thing that struck me wrong was how everybody so easily accepted the baby Dragon as Esofi and Adale's child, especially when I couldn't. I know dragons are intelligent creatures, in this world, but I had hard time seeing the beast like that. To me he felt like a pet. Every time people treated it like a child. I felt like when people take "pet parent" way too literally. "I sorry ladys but that stupid dragon isn't really your child".The next problem I had was how everybody was able to forgive and forget after the war. Dragons killed people ruined lives, seemingly unprovoked. Many good dragons died in their crusade to rid the world of humans, so they could win back the favor of their mother goddess. However after Esofi killed the Dragon emperor, both sides just kind of shook hands, said good game, and moved on. Where was the bitterness, the resentment. It just didn't feel realalistic that Sofi was taking the deaths of the dragons she killed harder than the dragons own families. There was the useless side plot of the assassination attempt on Sofi. It served no real purpose resolved off screen, and had no bearing it the main plot.It wasn't all bad. The ending felt more dramatic than the ending of the other two books. It actually felt like proper wrap up of both Sofi's internal, and external conflicts. I Just wish Adele wasn't such a useless character. Her entire purpose seems to be a cheerleader, for Sofi. She doen't even make good comic relief.I Will probably pick up another book in the serie, but I won't hold my breath for one.
