Ebook About A beautiful computer hacker and a bad-boy FBI agent must collaborate—in more ways than one—in this sexy, suspenseful novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.Allison Trent doesn't look like a hacker. In fact, when she's not in college working on her degree, she models on the side. But behind her gorgeous face is a brilliant mind for computers and her real love is writing—and hacking—code. Her dream is to write a new security program that could revolutionize the tech industry.Hotshot FBI agent Liam Scott has a problem: a leak deep within his own department. He needs the skills of a top-notch hacker to work on a highly sensitive project: to secretly break into the FBI servers and find out who the traitor is. But he can't use one of his own. He finds the perfect candidate in Allison. Only, there's one problem—she wants nothing to do with his job and turns him down flat. What Liam doesn't know is that Allison is hiding secrets that she doesn't want the FBI to uncover. But Liam will do nearly anything to persuade her to join his team, even break a few rules if that's what it takes. A temptation that could put his job—and both of their futures—on the line...Book Wired (Buchanan/FBI Book 13) Review :
5 Second look at WiredA Quick SummaryBeautiful hacker gets asked to join a FBI Team to find a mole. She turns him down at first, but after he promises to clean up her record, she agreesFBI agent saves the girl and falls in love.My Take on the Book :The book’s blurb makes the story seem interesting, but that’s not really what you get with this book. I feel duped.Let's Talk About the Girl...Allison Trent broke the law a few times but just with the purpose of helping others. So working for the FBI or any other government agency is not something on her wish list, but the excitement to do something that everyone thinks she’s incapable of is enough of a motive to sign a contract to work for the FBI cyber unit.Let's Talk About the Guy...Liam Scott, a FBI agent, was working on a case that was going pretty well until someone leaked information about the case that could jeopardize the case as well as the agent’s credibility. The FBI cyber task force can’t find the person responsible for the leak so he needs the best damn hacker to do it.Let's Talk about the Story...This was my first book by Julie Garwood. I can’t say that I’m going to try another.Something was certainly off.Allison’s life is not an easy one. She and her sister lived with her aunt and uncle after their parents died. The problem was that their aunt and uncle hated them both and only cared about their son Will, who spent most of the time finding ways to end up in prison. And guess who had to work as a model to pay the lawyer’s bills? Allison that’s who. And that’s where Liam took a giant importance in her life. He gave her a feeling of protection and affection that she wasn’t used to. Allison was a good character: she’s not the strongest woman you will meet because she’s constantly doing what her relatives ask of her but she’s pretty confident in her capabilities.Liam is not new. Bad boy that looks like a god when wearing a suit. Almost everything he does is confidential so we barely know him to be honest. We know he likes women but not to have a serious relationship seeing as he’s traveling for work most of the time. We don’t know his family and we only know his friends because they’re also his partners. Liam for all his protective man in charge attitude still came off somewhat wooden. I never felt like his personality was too delved into, he was always on the go without the reader having time to really get to know him, let alone Allison.Regarding the characters, there was a lot of things that I think were unnecessary. There’s a lot of rambling about characters that aren’t that relevant for the book while important characters like Liam are barely developed. He spent most of the book away at work, spending weeks and weeks without saying a word to Allison and we know nothing about him. After I finished the book I can’t even say for sure if they had an extended conversation. They did have moments of chemistry but their interactions were such hit and runs, nothing ever felt flushed out. The beat in their relationship just felt off.Allison and Liam were two very analytical characters and that could be why they were harder to connect with as their thought patterns were pretty decisive but it also had them coming off a bit stiff. The over abundance of villains and obstacles thrown in their way was too much and clogged up the story.Even though I felt the heroine was too sweet, the hero was a bit cardboard cut-out, and one too many bad guys running around, Garwood’s writing still has a readability that can’t be denied.Originally published on TheLadyReader.com I am a Julie Garwood fan. I always look forward to her book releases knowing that at some level I will like them. Wired was a true disappointment. I agree with other reviewers, Julie Garwood either did not write this book or it was rewritten and heavily edited by someone else. I think everyone can agree that Ms. Garwood has a formula for her contemporary romances. This book simply does not follow. The hero, Liam, is such a disappointment. We were introduced to him in prior books. He was dynamic, handsome, confident and outgoing. There is an expectation that he will be the same in this book. Not so. As a matter of fact, Liam's character is barley developed. Other than learning a little about his family you don’t learn anything about him. Allison, the heroine, I have no words for her. She is beautiful (and of course does not know it), but she is a stupid genius? Apparently, she can solve puzzles in five minutes, write complicated code and hack into any database on earth, but she can’t manage her family or personal life. There is simply nothing to like about her because what character development there is makes her out to be something of a simpleton. There is no character development between the two main characters. I have no idea why they like each other; they don’t even spend any time together. Now the plot; what plot? There are a bunch of characters thrown together, with very little dialogue (where was that witty Garwood-speak) and frankly what plot there is, is stupid. I had to force myself to finish the book simply to see if it got any better, it did not. I suggest if you are a die hard fan that you get the book from the library or wait until it is heavily discounted. Don’t pay full price. Some books should be shelved and rewritten and this was one. On the plus side, Ms. Garwood has a long history of producing great novels and I can’t wait to read them.
